Wadu Heck is a player character from Trouble in Trisden. He later makes appearances as an NPC in various other campaigns on the continent of Kalkatesh. As a player character, he is played by Pokelawls. In his other appearances, he is voiced by Arcadum. Wadu Heck helped slay Marcelus Kingvale, a necromancer during the end of Phase 1 [2] [3]. He is also a recurring NPC in Duality of Dragons where he becomes a party member. DescriptionAppearanceTrouble in Trisden Ep. 1, B&W Handout (Artist) [4] Trouble in Trisden Ep. 1, Coloured Token As an Inquisitor NPC Wadu is a green bipedal frog of small stature. His bulging, bulbous yellow eyes protrude from his head and allow him to easily survey the area around him. He uses his small size to his advantage and is easily able to blend in and sneak around undetected. His bags/packs are fungal pods that have been seasoned and left out to dry and cause a mucus-like material to cover whatever he puts inside. He can use his tongue as an effective extra appendage. When attempting to read, he has to cock his head to the side or squint with individual items to be successful. He bruises easily. PersonalityWadu tends to be a timid creature that can easily be initially overwhelmed or startled by unexpected scenarios. His nervous, squeaky voice gives off an indication of fear, however he is a very skilled rogue and can easily infiltrate areas where others cannot, luring his foes into a false sense of security. While he is a water-borne creature, he has not demonstrated the highest propensity for swimming; during Trouble in Trisden, he claims that he cannot swim. Overall, he has a low opinion of himself. He is also incredibly clumsy, and is known to fall into holes and set off his crossbow accidentally, creating a hole in his abode. HistoryBackgroundWadu originates from Hag Claw Swamp. He served as a soldier for at least 3 years for Arlot in their war with Saphe. Wadu has not seen his family since before the war began. Trouble in TrisdenAfter the war, Wadu Heck travels with a party to Trisden. On his mission to help a merchant recover some lost goods from bandits, Wadu Heck steals a mysterious dagger. Upon using this dagger, he finds that his arm became more and more corrupted. When trying to give Fernando Alandro the dagger, the dagger teleports back to him. He was only cleansed of his corruption when he grabs a holy sword, which also transforms him into a paladin. Saints of the Street and Trial by FireIn Saints of the Street, it is revealed that Og'Narak had fallen to a mysterious sickness and Wadu Heck made a deal to help the Half-Father in exchange for a potion for his friend. He was tasked to help teleport the party to Fireport to complete their mission as payment for the potion, regardless of it not having an effect. Wadu Heck is no longer a paladin by the time the party reaches him, and is instead described as being a shaman. When the party returns from Fireport, Wadu Heck wakes up and finds his friend Og'Narak dead. Not knowing that his friend was murdered, he buries his friend. He later shows up in Trial by Fire, where he consults someone in a tavern about the strange symbols that appeared next to Og'Narak's body after his death. It is revealed that the symbols belong to Wode. Seeking revenge, Wadu Heck wants to put a bounty on the group responsible for his friend's death, but he is instead told to seek an inquisitor named Thomas T. Tale for help. The InquisitionWonders WithinSilent KnightsWadu Heck appears to the Silent Knights party, where he now lives in a small shack on the border of Orde and Krazax. He invites the party in for tea, where he talks to the party about his lost friend Og'Narak and his quest to hunt down followers of dark gods. In his shack, he has 39 trophies from Black Pantheon worshippers, some of which are covered in blood and his bed is unused. On their way out, he digs up a hole and retrieves a diamond, which had been previously given to him by Galathiel Galanoden, and gives it to the party. He eventually falls into the hole he dug, and Dr. Essler helps him out -- he becomes smitten and runs back into his shack in embarrassment after giving her a pencil [5]. Wadu Heck later appears again in Sun's Hope when the party visits the White Temple, which he visited because he heard of that it was possibly going to be torn down. He was also going to post bounties in down because three prisoners have broken free of an Ordeian prison, and gives the party the choice to choose any of the bounties if they wish. After the party chooses to accept the contract for "Red-Hat Ronaldo", Wadu Heck goes to pray [2]. When the party returns back to the tavern, Wadu Heck is in the corner of the tavern drinking before Alyla approaches him. He asks her about Dr. Essler's interests, to which she replies that she has an interest in biology. While he thinks about whether or not to give a book of giants to Dr. Essler, Alyla calls Dr. Essler over and he gives her the book. After Essler says that he is very interesting, he runs out of the tavern in a panic [6]. Shattered CrownsWhile in Majital, serving as an Inquistor of Glory, Wadu Heck is approached by Huckleberry. Huckleberry asks him if he knows anything about dreams and Wadu replies that he does and he is pledged to hunt down all followers of the god of nightmares. Only then with their deaths will he know peace for his friend Og'Narak. In an attempt to help Huckleberry with his 'nightmares' he offers a salve of bandages and herbs and applies it to Huckleberry's forehead with his tongue. Due to Huckleberry's kindness and attempts to boost his confidence, he gives him a health potion. Duality of DragonsWadu Heck is next seen in the Black Jackal, a bar in Dolten. He is approached by The TOPS as they are looking to hunt the dragon Osirian who happens to be terrorizing the Grippli. He agrees without much hesitation regardless of certain members' affiliation for evil, as relatively basic deception was able to passify him. As the group sizes him up, it is revealed that because of the cameos he made, Wadu Heck is a level 10 character. He follows the TOPS to meet with The Half-Father, who offers him any aid he may require. Wadu declines his offer, and instead The Half-Father offers to help feed the grippli who are too cautious to risk leaving their homes to eat. He then takes the group to his home where they learn about his past. Seren uses druidcraft to grow flowers around Og'Narak's grave and the rest of the party does not steal the diamond. After that minor detour, Wadu brings the party to the swamp where Osirian is located and goes to meet with Dargiglax. It is revealed that Wadu was exiled from the territory some point in the past and he harbors a great dislike against Dargiglax, though these may be unrelated seeing as Dargiglax demands tribute from the grippli. As part of the deal the group deals with 3 hydras, killing two and forcing the last to run away in exchange for strategic information regarding Osirian. When the group goes to Abbadon to shop for supplies, Seren distracts him so that he does not confront them about their morally ambiguous suppliers. Once they were done preparing, the group fought and killed Osirian. Despite having finally ended the monster who had killed many of his people, he was still morose, as those who were killed would not come back. Antonius gives him a tophat, and Wadu sings a traditional song of memory before resolving to reuinte his people as he hops away. Post The End GameFollowing the events of The End Game, Wadu Heck eventually dies of old age and is reunited with Og'Narak in the Hall of Warriors [7].
