The first two volumes of "If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord", from which the single season of the anime series was adapted, was nice slice-of-life story in a fantasy setting of a surrogate father raising his demon girl foundling. I enjoyed those stories to enough to read the manga adaptation, which only started to touch the top part of this volume, and the source light novels itself. Latina, the once precocious cute demon girl is starting to chafe under the current relationship she with her surrogate parent Dale. Though the hints and foreshadowing of a potential romance between the two were already present in the earlier stories and adaptations, it is still an idea that majorly change the perception of the reader towards this series. I for one would like to see how all of that unfolded and it seems that everything would be revealed in the next volume. ...more

I thought it might've been weird that she started getting feelings for him, but the book is really well written and explains it well. "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined." - TheReportOfTheWeek It's obvious where this series is headed and it's not towards a wholesome father/daughter relationship, which to me, was the whole selling point of this series. It's literally called "if it's for MY DAUGHTER..." Turning a father/daughter relationship into a romantic one is not new to me. I had read Usagi Drop, which was much much more disturbing than this. I'm starting to wonder if it's like.. a fetish or something. From watching enough anime, I start to think that incest fetishes exist in Japan (or atleast there is a market for it, why else is it so prevalent in pop culture?) and I wonder if this is somehow connected. But it's still really disappointing that this book was one of them. How this series was picked up for an anime is beyond me tbh. The writing is considerably bad, as well. Definitely better than volume 2, though this does start to turn the narrative into a "romantic" tale instead of the "caretaker + dependence" relationship before which may or may not be for you.I did like that there are other romances explored a bit here, from human romance to interspecies romance and the trouble of worrying about your loved one after you have perished because their lifespan is long. Stuff happen Well what did you expect from a slice of life story there is no plot right now but things happen like Latina trying makeup for the first time, going to the festival with friends for the first time. But before that we meet a new character who was captured by Bandits and met the Second demon Lord. So if you like this series you will like this volume not a whole lot has changed but the stuff that has is very engaging.
At work, I am reading this series during my breaks. For this installment of the series, I wasn’t as interested during the middle part of the book. The beginning and end was extremely fun and I couldn’t put it down, but the Rose Princess part was a little boring for me. However, I realize how violent this series can get because of the Rose Princess part. I can’t wait to start reading the fourth installment!

Still cute and fluffy, we got a bit more plot about the titular demon lord. I'm not sure I like how her relationship with Dale is being handled.
