Users will need to find out if they are running Windows 10 S Mode.

Click in the search box and type System Information and hit enter.

If you are running Windows 10 S Mode you will need to download an app from the Microsoft Store first. Go to the Microsoft Store. Search for Microsoft Remote Desktop. Install that and it will add the Remote Desktop Client to Windows 10 Home. Scroll down to the Windows 10 S Section.


If you are running Windows 10 Home, Pro, Education or Enterprise, Remote Desktop Client will already be installed. Just click in the search box and type Remote Desktop Connection

Open the app and you should get the following box:

First thing click the Show Options drop down to get more settings.

For the Computer name type in the name of your PC at work. User name will be users\eid you have the option of saving a shortcut for this connection to your desktop. You can click the box to Allow me to save my credentials. This will keep you from having to login each time. Click the Save As button and you can point it to your desktop. This way you dont have to do all the steps to open it.

You should now see something like this:

Click the Connect button.

The first time you connect it will ask for your credentials:

You may then receive a certificate warning. This is ok you can click the Dont ask me again box and click yes.

You will then be logged into your PC at work. During this time the screens at work will blank out for security.



Windows 10 S Mode

For Windows 10 S Mode pcs that installed the app from the Microsoft Store, open the app, click the +Add in the upper right hand corner and select Desktop:

Once you have clicked Add, this is where you can type in your work PC name and user account (hit the + to add an account) This will need to be users\eid and then your eid password. For example on the user account settings:

You should end up with something similar to this:

Then click Save. You should now have a save desktop you can open and remote to:

Double click on the new desktop connection. You will get a certificate warning. Its ok you can click the Dont ask again box and then click Connect.

The next box will pop up for your credentials:

Type in your password and click Connect.

You will then be logged into your PC at work. During this time the screens at work will blank out for security.
