Hello! I have an ASUS G46 laptop. From what I gathered it's very hard to disassemble this laptop in order to gain acces to the fans. Could someone who has a similar problem tell me pls how does one clean the fans on such laptops? 0 i7BabyDignifiedBANNED Jul 25, 20122,277013,960305 Aug 18, 2014
Blow air in thru the cooling vents to blow the dust out. 0 Rayven2EstimableJul 31, 20146304,6109 Aug 18, 2014
You can use compressed air through the vents. 0 kajjotDistinguishedJun 29, 201024018,5907 Aug 18, 2014
Compressed air is best but i would also advise poking a needle in to the fan so it doesn't spin when you blow air through it as you can burn the fan motor. 0 B bubu_bubuEstimableMar 9, 2014304,5100 Aug 18, 2014

If this is the first cleanup i don't recommend compressed air. If there is a thick dust clog in there, it may be moved between the palets of the fan and it gets stuck. And that shall fry the fan. Insead, take it apart and clean it with a brush carefully, and also change the thermal paste from the heatsink. I'm telling you this because i've had a case like this. Fan very dirty, cloged with a thick layer of dust like a piece of fur, owner blew it in the fan, fan stuck, fan fried, owner sad.... 0 Rayven2EstimableJul 31, 20146304,6109 Aug 18, 2014
