Is July 3rd 2023 a holiday?

On the 18th October 2022, Ministry of Education (MOE) announced the news for 2023 School Year that Primary 1, Kindergarten 1 and secondary school students at MOE schools will begin on 3rd Jan 2023 Tuesday. The rest of the students in other levels such as Kindergarten 2 and from Primary 2 to 6 will report to school a day later, which is 4th Jan 2023 Wednesday, similar to arrangements done in year 2021 and year 2022.

The move was necessary as part of the measures to safeguard the well-being of the school community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Such arrangements have worked well in helping the younger students ease into their new school environment on the first school day and will continue to be in place moving forward.

The school year for primary and secondary levels will end on Nov 17.

The last school day for schools that will be used as venues for the GCE O-Level written examinations will be earlier, on Oct 27.

Meanwhile, first year students at junior colleges and Millenia Institute (MI) will start the school year on Feb 3 and end it on Nov 24.

The rest of the junior college and MI students will follow on Jan 9, and their school year will conclude with the end of the GCE A-Level examinations.

All schools will have four vacation periods. They are as follows:

There will also be four scheduled school holidays for the 2023 school year: Youth Day, the day after National Day, Teachers’ Day and Children’s Day.

There are four scheduled school holidays. The Day after National Day on 10 August 2023, Teachers’ Day will be celebrated on September 2023, and Children Day on October 2023. As Youth Day falls on a Sunday (2 July 2023), the following Monday (3 July 2023) will be a school holiday.

About MOE Swimsafer Programme

MOE Swimsafer program supposedly to be started during the primary 3 in most MOE school During the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the school MOE Swimsafer programme were delayed for about 2 years between year 2020 and 2021. in year 2022, the group of affected students are in primary 5. Many Things you can do during the School Holiday

In a month long school holiday, you can sign up your child for some intensive enrichment program. This provide them the opportunity to learn new skills during the school holiday. As most of the children enrichment program is on weekend, the school holidays will provide them ample of free time on weekend to attend those intensive enrichment program. Here, we listed out some of the things that your child can do during their school Holidays.

1) 6 Days Holiday Swim Program

Sign up your child for some rock climb experience. They have branches at SportHub, Funan, Katong, and Novena. Let your kid have some outdoor fun. You can visit their website here.

3) Cycling

With the park connector linking up from different part of singapore, you can explore the route thru cycling. Remember to bring some water, some cash and towel and go with your friends in group. Remember to exercise road safety when you are cycling in the public place.

4) Visit the Science Centre

Take a tour at Science Park and explore to increase your knowledge of science and understand how things work.

5) Visit the Library

There is almost a library at every estate in singapore. They are open during the school holiday. Grab some books to read. Story books, Friction, non friction, tales, history, etc. Borrow your book of interest. Then you will tend to read more. Broaden your horizons with knowledge during the school holiday. There are such opportunity for you to grow your knowledge during this time.
