Nov 30th, 2019 10:54 am 10th gen i5 HP Pavilion 15.6" Touch screen laptop $649Deal Link:https://www.costco.ca/hp-pavilion-15-cs ... 21242.htmlPrice:$649Retailer:Costco Found Costco has an HP Pavilion 15.6" FHD IPS 1920*1080p touch screen laptop with 10th gen i5 1035G1, with 8gb ram and 512gb SSD. On sale for $649. Seems to be a pretty hot deal, it's by far the cheapest 10th gen i5 I've seen with a 1080p screen, especially touch screen. Also found Acer aspire 3 with AMD Ryzen R5 3500U, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd, also 15.6" screen 1920*1080p but not sure if it is IPS. $499 at Best Buy. https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/ac ... 0/13978145 Thinking of going with the HP for the 10th gen i5 and IPS screen, but wouldn't hate saving $150 so I have not pulled the trigger yet... Thoughts? Last edited by TomRFD on Dec 3rd, 2019 2:20 pm, edited 1 time in total. Reason: retailer field wasn't linking properly Share:
Nov 30th, 2019 11:34 am I don't know much about computers, I thought HP was a reputable brand? They seem to be everywhere. The HP from Costco does come with 2 year warranty which is nice though.
Nov 30th, 2019 3:38 pm With 8gb ddr4 and 10th gen i5? Good deal if so
Nov 30th, 2019 3:59 pm Great deal. Other similar deal was with only HD and not FHD display . Touch screen isnt really a consideration for most even though it does have a huge impact on price so this makes it pretty hot. And with Costco even better. Tack on their extra warranty and have 3 years of accidental damage covered too. +1
Nov 30th, 2019 4:03 pm What was the code for 10%? Wasn't that monitor only?
Nov 30th, 2019 4:21 pm Is this it? If so its $599 at Best buy. Cheaper than Costco. https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/hp ... 0/13863133 Edit: NVM, this thing has an ass screen. I feel like the Acer OP linked is a better buy though. All things equal, I'd rather take the Vega 8 graphics over onboard Intel. https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/ac ... 0/13978145 This is even $100 cheaper if you don't mind a refurb. Same specs as the Acer. https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/as ... d/13863166 The absolute cheapest I could find the 3500u for so far... +1
Nov 30th, 2019 4:36 pm "Productivity"? What does that even mean? Weight (and size to a certain extent) can be dependent on more than just the screen. I'm sure people can read that everything is 15.6" on the headline of each PC. Oh and the refurbished Vivobook with the 3500u I linked uses something ASUS calls "NanoEdge bezel", basically the screen has almost no bezel and is barely bigger than a 14". +1
Nov 30th, 2019 4:48 pm I'd love to see it in person, if true, I'm a fan of the design approach. Productivity means work. .
Nov 30th, 2019 4:49 pm I wouldn't touch anything with only 8GB of RAM and Intel UHD graphics. Ultimately, I guess it depends on what you need it for. If it's for gaming (even light gaming) this laptop obviously won't do it for you. If it's for regular home/school use (browing, word processing etc.) then you can most likely find something in the $300-$400 to fulfil your needs. +1
