AstraZeneca has entered an agreement to provide the commercial rights for Seloken/Seloken ZOK [metoprolol tartrate and metoprolol succinate respectively] and associated Logimax fixed-dose combination [metoprolol succinate and felodipine] treatments in Europe to Recordati.
Under the agreement, Recordati will pay AstraZeneca $300m following completion of the deal, while AstraZeneca will manufacture and supply medicines to Recordati.
AstraZeneca will also be eligible to receive tiered royalties based on sales, initially at a double-digit percentage.

Seloken [metoprolol] is indicated to control hypertension, angina pectoris, disturbances of cardiac rhythm, myocardial infarction treatment and functional heart disorders with palpitations. In the European market, it is available under different brand names.
Logimax is the fixed-dose combination of metoprolol succinate with felodipine which is used to control hypertension.
AstraZeneca will retain the commercialisation rights of these medicines in all other markets.
The transaction is expected to complete in this quarter, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory clearances.
Last year, product sales for the Seloken brands and Logimax were reported to be around $110m in Europe.
This transaction including the $300m upfront payment and tiered royalties will be reported as other operating income in the AstraZeneca’s financial statements.

AstraZeneca announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Recordati S.p.A [Recordati] for the commercial rights to Seloken/Seloken ZOK [metoprolol tartrate and metoprolol succinate respectively] and associated Logimax fixed-dose combination [metoprolol succinate and felodipine] treatments in Europe. Metoprolol succinate is a beta-blocker for the control of hypertension, angina and heart failure.
Recordati will pay AstraZeneca $300 million upon completion of the agreement. AstraZeneca will also receive sales-related income through tiered royalties, initially at a double-digit percentage of sales. AstraZeneca will manufacture and supply the medicines to Recordati under a supply agreement.

Financial considerations
In 2016, Product Sales for the Seloken brands and Logimax were $110 million in Europe. AstraZeneca will continue to commercialise the medicines in all other markets, where it holds the rights. The transaction is expected to complete in the second quarter of 2017, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory clearances. Based on the level of ongoing interest AstraZeneca will retain in the brands in Europe, the $300 million upfront and tiered royalties will be reported as Other Operating Income in the Company’s financial statements. The agreement does not impact the Company’s financial guidance for 2017.

Liều dùng thuốc metoprolol cho người lớn là gì?
Liều dùng thông thường cho người lớn phòng ngừa đau thắt ngực, tăng huyết áp, nhịp tim nhanh trên thất
Liều khởi đầu: dùng 100mg, uống 1 hoặc chia làm 2 lần.
Liều duy trì: dùng 100-450 mg/ngày.
Viên nén phóng thích kéo dài có thể sử dụng tổng liều giống nhau hằng ngày, uống mỗi ngày một lần.
Liều dùng thông thường cho người lớn bị suy tim sung huyết:
Liều khởi đầu: dùng 25mg mỗi ngày một lần [dạng thuốc phóng thích kéo dài] trong hai tuần ở bệnh nhân suy tim độ II theo phân loại của NYHA [Hội Tim Mạch New York] và 12,5mg mỗi ngày một lần [dạng thuốc phóng thích kéo dài] ở những bệnh nhân bị suy tim nặng hơn.
Liều duy trì: liều lượng này sau đó phải được tăng gấp đôi mỗi hai tuần với mức liều cao nhất dung nạp hoặc lên đến 200mg.
Liều dùng thuốc metoprolol cho trẻ em là gì?
Liều dùng thông thường cho trẻ em mắc bệnh tăng huyết áp:
Trẻ trên 1 tháng tuổi: khởi đầu 1mg/kg x 2 lần/ngày, có thể tăng dần liều không quá 8mg/kg/ngày [không quá 400mg/ngày].
Liều dùng cho trẻ trên 1 tháng tuổi bị loạn nhịp tim
50mg x 2-3 lần/ngày. Liều tối đa 300mg/ngày.
