There’s no shortage of powerful smartphones to go around, but it’s our nature to wonder what’s ahead. What could be in the works for the rest of 2022 and beyond? Let’s talk about the hottest upcoming Android phones. We’ll mainly focus on devices that will likely be released by in the next six months or so, just to keep things more relevant and not speculate on far-off projects.

Google Pixel 7
Google has confirmed it will release the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro this year. They will be announced this fall, on October 6 to be exact. The company gave us an early look at the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro during the I/O 2022 press conference, which showed that the smaller of the two phones will have two rear cameras, while the Pro model will have an extra sensor on the back.
Both phones will be powered by Google’s Tensor chipset and will run Android 13. Hopefully, the company will have the same pricing strategy with the Pixel 7 series as it did with its predecessor, meaning pricing would kick off at $600. We also hope Google will match Samsung’s update promise, promising at least four years of Android updates for the two devices — fingers crossed.

Samsung Galaxy S23 series
Ryan Haines / Android Authority
This list obviously wouldn’t be complete without Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 series. Although unconfirmed, we believe the phones will be announced in February 2023, although there’s a chance we’ll see them a month prior or later. We expect the company to unveil three phones as part of the series, as standard.
Nothing about the handsets has been confirmed yet, but we do expect the latest and greatest chipset from Qualcomm to power them all. At least in the US. Europe and other regions may only get the version powered by the unannounced Exynos 2300. We also expect to see great cameras, four years of OS updates, and at least 45W fast charging. In terms of design, things likely won’t change all that much.
Xiaomi 12T series
Xiaomi’s anticipated upcoming phones will be called the 12T and 12T Pro. The latter will obviously offer more, sporting the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, a 200MP camera, and as much as 12GB of RAM. The regular Xiaomi 12 will come with a slower Mediatek Dimensity 8100 chipset and a 108MP main camera. You can check out the rest of the rumored specs and features in our dedicated post at the link.
While unconfirmed, we expect Xiaomi’s 12T series to make its debut sometime next month. We’ll update this post as soon as Xiaomi shares the exact release date.

OnePlus 11 Pro
OnePlus’ lineup has gotten more confusing over the years. For example, the T line skipped the 9 series but came back for the 10T, the R and RT series are regional exclusives, and the vanilla model didn’t launch alongside the OnePlus 10 Pro this year. Regardless, we expect the company to release the OnePlus 11 Pro soon, likely in the first three months of 2023.
We don’t know much about the phone at the moment. We do expect to see high-end specs and features though, just like with the rest of OnePlus’ Pro lineup. We would like to see a better camera, alongside an official IP rating for the unlocked version of the handset. To check out our full OnePlus 11 Pro wishlist, click here.

Samsung Galaxy A54
Ryan Haines / Android Authority
The Galaxy A53 is currently one of the best — if not the best — mid-rangers on the market. With that in mind, we’re excited to see what its successor will bring to the table.
We know absolutely nothing about it yet at the moment. Considering that the last two generations were released in March, we expect things to stay the same next year. That means we’ll see the phone launch in about six months. We hope to see an improvement in the processing power as well as the addition of 4K 60fps video recording.

Keep in mind these are only some of the best upcoming Android phones. We’ve focused on the ones we’re most looking forward to. It’s important to keep in mind that the industry continues to push forward, so we’re sure there will be plenty of other exciting announcements in the next six months. As always, we’ll be here at AndroidAuthority.com telling you all about them!
