Same toy factory, all-new adventures
In the original Poppy Playtime, you’ve started an investigation of an abandoned toy factory, and you’ve crossed paths with the blue, long-limbed mascot Huggy Wuggy. As you enter a different section of Playtime Co in Poppy Playtime - Chapter 2, you now try to outrun Spidey Widy, a pink-colored mascot with all-new abilities and new potential for horror. This premise builds further on the lore already introduced in the base game.
However, as the game is a DLC, it’s a prerequisite first to have the original game. It’s not required to finish the first chapter, though. Also, the new game offers a lot of features that actually make it feel like an upgrade. For example, you can now use a green-colored glove that stores electricity and allows you to carry it elsewhere.
While there is an upgrade in the puzzles because of the new GrabPack mechanics, the difficulty of the new opponent is quite underwhelming. If you’ve had a blast trying to outwit and outrun Huggy Wuggy, then prepare for a disappointment with Spidey Widy. Her movement and attack patterns are easy to recognize and follow, making it an unbelievably predictable experience. Still, the story and the puzzles are worth staying for.
A bridge for better Poppy Playtime content
If you’ve enjoyed the original Poppy Playtime, then you can’t afford to miss Poppy Playtime - Chapter 2. It is a paid DLC that offers quality story and game elements. It smoothly builds on the lore already established, and with the introduction of new game mechanics, it manages to step up the challenge and immersion of the gameplay experience. The only element falling short is the game boss itself.

Although, the puzzles are a lot more difficult to complete. There is also a new enemy who is out to kill you. However, like its predecessor, the game has no actual tutorial, and the gameplay only lasts an hour. Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 continues where Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 left off. It continues the end scene of the first Poppy Playtime game. However, when you make your way back out the door you came in, you make your way into a brand new area called The Train Station. Don't worry, though. Once you find the code for the train, you have the promise of escape. Poppy is also there to help you, although it seems suspicious. Moreover, there is also a massive toy called Mommy Long Legs, which wants to play with you before she kills you. And if that is not challenging, she's not the only toy ready to end your life. There is even a giant spider toy you will have to face off against at the ending.What does the sequel offer?
Heading from location to location remains the same. You will investigate and unlock hints and puzzles. But you have a bar that lets you swing across gaps with your Grabpack hand or grapple up to higher floors. Sadly, this item slightly takes away from the logic of the story. Players should also know that the puzzles are more challenging, and the game still lacks proper combat.
Is the game good?
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 lives up to the hype of the first Poppy Playtime game. It brings the same creepy environment and chilling sounds to send your airs on your neck end. However, it offers a fresh area to explore and a new boss to beat. It also makes the puzzles more challenging for players. Overall, it provides a thrilling experience for the fans of the franchise.
