Hi,
Randomly users on our Remote desktop server 2012 have no keyboard, the mouse still works fine. I've been struggling with this a wihle now but never found a solution.
[ps: sometimes numlock is inverted]
Allready tried turning off "ease of access settings for keyboard",
installed "Server Role - desktop experience"
Found multiple forums with same issue but never a descent solution, does anyone have?
Thx,
Jonas

Hi there. On MSTSC options click in local resources and in keyboard, select remote computer...
I run into this if the user has any product that uses VNC or its half brothers tightVNC, UltraVNC, JoinMe, Gotomypc, etc.
The user needs to make sure those are not running when the RDP connection is made.
Also if they are using a web meeting to share the RDP session, they need to connect to the web meeting inside the RDP connection, not there desktop.
In the properties of the RDP session [Local Resources tab]Under Keyboard, select On this computer in Apply Windows key combinations list.
The users aren't running any 3th party software while they're starting an RDP Session
i've also tested there user session on my own computer and laptop. Result was the same, so it's not depending on the computer they're connecting from.
must say, i'm not sure i have tested with the "windows key combination" in local resources.
[ can't test this now because the server was rebooted and there is currently no issue ]
Today it happend again, just random.
So, i had to reboot :[
JonasV,
I have been struggling with this for three weeks now. I have been using my iPad to remote in because my keys on my laptop didn't work [the tab and control keys would work, but not the letters or numbers]. So, I changed the "Windows key combination" in the RDP file, double-clicked and my keyboard now works fine in Remote Desktop.
Did you find a way to fix this server problem? I am experiencing%u2003 the same problem...
I have found a small fix for it when it comes up on my Server 12 R2. A user will bring up a login page to connect and if you hit the win key the host start menu will come up, then re-select into the user name field on the RDP login page and it will work fine.
I don't have yet a fix for this from a server side to prevent it from happening. Let me know if this works for you.
