What laptop will last the longest?

I need to get a new laptop but I want something that will last a long time. I am coming from a 2012 MacBook Pro and I don't want to buy the new Mac. What brands has the best reputation as being durable and lasting a long time? encoreAC·3y Lenovo Thinkpads.6Reply juken7·3y That's kinda a loaded question from what I've seen most companies can build a decent laptop. Though it all comes down to price point their are budget laptops, mid grade laptop, high end laptops. Usually the high end to mid grade will have the best build quality and low end the worst. Best laptops to buy for build quality are workstation/business class laptops these are usually very well build and from some manufacturers like dell hp will have a 3 year premium warranty in case something goes wrong instead of the standard 1 yr. 4Reply tek_thetech_tap·3y This is quite subjective. But based on popular opinions, it's either Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell Latitude or Surface line-up. But for me personally, I have 4 Windows devices currently, all of which are still working fine until today, Dell Venue 11 Pro (had it since 2015), Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 (had it since 2013), Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 370 (had it since early 2017) and HP Elite x2 1012 G2 (had it since 3 months), which I currently use my daily driver.2Reply winkapp·3y If youre looking for something cheap, definitely a Dell Inspiron. If something expensive, ThinkPad or Dell Latitude.2Reply skyestalimit·3y 10 months old dell works like new ...2Reply SandwichOfLies·3y I had an HP dv200t that lasted from '06 to until Best Buy had their gift card offer for used laptop deal (last year, I believe)...it still worked just fine except the battery was completely dead. I had an HP dv9000 (I forget which exactly) that lasted from about '08 to '16, that one actually called it quits though. My late 2011 MBP still runs great but the dGPU is dead so I only have the integrated graphics now. Just my experiences though, there are always the greats and the terribles to be had with any brand. Comrade_agent·3y Macbooks, thinkpads, dell latitudes emannewz·3y I have two HP laptops. One is approaching 10 years old and still runs very well its an old pavilion g6 series. The other is a Spectre x360 that's around 4 years old. Spectre build quality is amazing and it really runs like it's new and the battery life still lasts nearly a full day.
