If youre listening to someone elses playlist and wish a certain song was gone or included, youre out of luck. Unless its a collaborative playlist, you cannot edit playlists started by someone else. You can, however, copy all of the songs from another playlist into one that you can manipulate. Heres how to copy a playlist on Spotify.

To copy a Spotify playlist, open the Spotify desktop app. Navigate to the playlist you wish to copy and select all of the songs within it. Right-click those songs and then choose eitherAdd to new playlist or select the preexisting playlist you want to copy all of the songs to.

The ability to copy playlists is invaluable when it comes to using Spotify. Its extremely useful when you want to copy others playlists and when you have to move around data.
Say, for example, you are being added to a family plan and have to start using a new, different account. If you have another Spotify account, the new one obviously wont have all your saved Liked Songs or playlists.
While you wouldnt be able to copy over your saved listening history that Spotify uses in their algorithm, you could essentially port over all of the important music from the last account. All you would have to do is make your old accounts playlists public and copy those playlists on the new account.

How to copy a playlist on Spotify [desktop]
To copy any playlist, be it yours or someone elses, you must have the Spotify desktop application installed on your computer. Yes, you must have a computer.
Open the Spotify desktop app and find the playlist you want to copy. In this case, I want to make a copy of The Going Quantum Playlist, by the artist Going Quantum.

Next, select all of the songs within the playlist.
- To do this on a Windows computer, press Ctrl+a on your keyboard.
- To do this on an Apple computer, press Command+a on your keyboard.

Finally,right-click anywhere on the highlighted songs and move your cursor down toAdd to playlist. Here you have two options:
- Select the preexisting playlist you want to copy the playlist to.
- SelectAdd to new playlist to create a new playlist using all of the songs from the playlist you are copying.

How to make a playlist public or private
If you want to copy one of your playlists from another account, you will need to make sure your original playlists are public and displayed on your profile.

- On your Android or iOS device, open up the Spotify mobile app.
- Go toYour Library and press the playlist you want to make public or private.
- Press the button underneath the playlist title.
- Scroll down until you see theMake private orMake public button; this will have a lock icon next to it. Select this.

- Right-click the playlist you want to publicize [add to your profile] or privatize [remove from your profile].
- Clickthe option that says either Add to profile orRemove from profile.
