Chrome Remote Desktop restart computer

So I have been using chrome remote desktop so I can connect to my office computer from home. However, when I reboot my office computer from home, the chrome remote desktop doesn't start automatically. When I run crd --help [chrome remote desktop] the service says:

" Note: You will have to go into chrome or chromium to enable remote connections to this computer before you can run CRD on this machine. "

I wonder if there's a way to tackle this, or any other service that's more convenient and free. ssh is not a good option for me, because of the LAN security setting in my office and I'm not the network manager. Thank you for your help :]Read More

VPN sounds like a cool idea. I have asked the guy in charge of firewall to set up an ssh for me, but it took him a lot of effort and was not terribly stable, so I don't wanna bother him over and over again! However he seems fine with us punching holes all the time :]

btw as to the connection, the catch 22 is here: the google remote desktop on arch requires me to open chrome, then launch the google remote desktop extension in order for me to allow my office computer to share. However if I'm home and try to reboot my office computer remotely, it doesn't reopen chrome and launch the extension by itself! I want to find a way to bypass this problem.1Reply

You have arch on your office machine? Awesome. Anyway, is there not a service for chrome remote deskop that you can enable? Like the one in the AUR?

Or you could try to use teamviewer and enable it, I know that will start on a reboot and should let you log in again. Only problem is teamviewer acts weird on linux compared to on windows machines.2Reply
